Real-time employee feedback improves people management

Self-directed, personalized learning supports retention

When South Korea’s Kolmar Holdings was planning its digital transformation, HR leaders were determined to ensure employees felt positive about the experience. “We believe employees going through transformation should be treated with respect and given ongoing support,” says Sunggee Lee, senior manager of Kolmar Holdings’s Human Respect Team. “Our goal is to create an engaging environment, where people have the information and help they need when they need it, so employee growth translates into company growth.”

To create a unified and empowering employee experience, the Transformation Team chose multiple Workday HR solutions. Modules included South Korea’s first deployments of Workday Peakon Employee Voice and Workday Extend.

Better quality people management.

Kolmar Holdings is using Workday Peakon Employee Voice surveys to regularly check in with its people and give managers authentic feedback. “We collect anonymous responses from our employees through Peakon every month,” says Lee. In the first quarter of Peakon use, more than 70% of team members posted over 5,000 comments. “Now that team leaders are receiving real-time, active feedback, the quality of people management has improved,” Lee notes.

Kolmar Holdings is also using performance management software that more clearly links individual goals with organizational goals, and trialing different types of feedback. “We are able to experiment with various forms of performance communication, such as one-on-one or peer feedback, to understand what works best for different people,” says Lee.

We recommend Workday to companies that want a growth-oriented environment where employees freely experiment.

Personalized professional development.

Kolmar Holdings aims to improve retention by giving employees all the information and training they need to succeed in a changing environment. Through Workday, people receive job-based information (including tasks, goals, competencies, and qualifications) for current and future roles—along with self-directed professional development.

In what Lee says is a first in Korea, Kolmar Holdings is empowering its employees to self-select learning from different educational institutions, with recommended modules based on individual interests and attributes. “Using Workday Learning, we offer our employees customized educational content to support their career goals in our company,” says Lee.

With Workday, we can actively support each person to do what they are best suited for.

The promise of generative AI-based digital advisors.

Lee is looking forward to introducing new tools with embedded AI to offer employees even greater support. “Digital advisors based on generative AI will help to boost individual capabilities by automating tasks, researching faster, or generating ideas,” says Lee.
