ASMPT is the only company in the world that offers high-quality solutions for all major steps in the electronics manufacturing process. To keep pace with the needs of its global customers, ASMPT has grown through acquisition, introducing multiple processes and practices from diverse companies worldwide.
ASMPT’s success relies on strong global teamwork, marked by collaboration and open communication. “We are one team, so we needed to have one set of data and one way of working” says Vinod Sharma, global head of HR and analytics. To harmonize its work practices, ASMPT began a major transformation, including a flagship program to digitize its fragmented HR technology landscape. “We chose Workday as an IT leader with proven experience in supporting large, complex global HR transformations like ours,” says Sharma.
Globally consistent, user-friendly HR services.
ASMPT now has a central, consolidated HR platform across more than 30 countries, providing its workforce with a single, mobile-access entry point for HR tasks. Key processes are automated, well-structured, and globally consistent. “We have empowered our people with HR self-service and the Workday mobile experience,” says Sharma.
Sharma is pleased with the resulting marked reduction in cycle times for onboarding, probation review confirmations, organization changes, and restructuring. “The time taken for annual HR exercises, such as goal setting, performance reviews, and calibrations, has also come down significantly,” Sharma reports.
Automated dashboards for executives.
HR transformation has solved ASMPT’s problems with lack of data visibility and access. Previously, reports were created on multiple systems, with data stored on individual laptops inside hundreds of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. “Today, we store the data centrally and can generate reports on the fly, including deploying dashboards for our executives,” Sharma says.

Employees become comfortable with AI tools.
Sharma believes that AI will radically change the nature of work. “Human capital and digital capital will come together to power the jobs of the future,” Sharma says. ASMPT is planning to work toward that future by training and upskilling its employees to use AI in their jobs, starting with the AI-based tools available in Workday.
“Companies that do not proactively adopt these changes will get left behind,” says Sharma. “That’s why it’s critical that Workday embeds AI tools in its products.”
We look to Workday to provide us with AI tools that complement the decision-making of our employees.
